Brown ends career as national champ, seven-time All-American
CORAL GABLES — Ti’erra Brown said earlier this week that the 400-meter hurdles was the event she absolutely had to win at the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
She did it.
The Hurricanes senior won her first national title Friday, finishing in 55.642 seconds and edging out UCLA’s Turquoise Thompson by 0.004 seconds. Brown was runner-up last season. With her win, she became the sixth woman in UM history to win an NCAA Outdoor Championship.
And on Saturday, Brown finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (13.19 seconds) to end her career as a seven-time All-American.
“Ti’erra has been an All-American each year of her career,” UM director of track and fieldAmy Deem said in a statement. “She has upheld a strong tradition in the hurdles at the University of Miami.”
